the Hourglass

Arise Festival 2016 Colorado

On the canvas wall behind the empty picture frames, (secured like windows into the front of the white box) are mirrors. Passerby casually glance in, expecting to see an image of themselves reflected back.  Unexpected disorientation ensues; what they see instead is a strange, wordless world filled with the collisions, antics and dances of the characters within.

A menu of cues in combination with improvisational structures rotates every 20 minutes (when the Hourglass has emptied). We explore themes provoked by contemplation of the pain of dying, longing, desire, unrequited love and boundary/border crossing.
